I was looking for devices that I can use to measure the distance that was covered, the time taken, steps taken and maybe even the calories burnt in the process.
While I have no idea as to how they work, my guess is that this is a standard jogging equipment and hence can be relied upon as a device. Heard a lot about it. So decided to google for more details!
First of all, i found out that the device is called a pedometer! It was a good start!
Then I came across is really amazing website (or so I believe...) called Pedometer USA. I guess that I could go through the options at least.
Looking through the items, there were a few that caught my eye.
* AccuSplit Eagle AE170
* DMC03 MultiFunction
The DMC03 MultiFunction is looking interesting.
I guess that I will do some more research on this and come up with a pedometer that will suit my requirements and my budget!

New Turf
I had to leave office early today (that has come to be 1830 offlate!) as I had to take care of some errands. I thought that I would have time to myself! So must have all those who got stuck in a horrendous traffic jam! Luckily, the bike helped me traverse through and some smart selection meant that all was not lost! I started at 2024 IST today! Not as early as i wanted to! But I did try as much as I could...
Today I tried a new turf! Jogged in what is a small joggers park in the complex. The problem is that it is crowded as it is frequented by a lot of people. Also, the comparitively shorter distance of the lap means that it gets slightly monotonous after a while. Nevertheless, the beauty around (pun intended) more than makes up for it! :)
Today was another record of sorts as it was even longer than the last time. But the distance was probably not as much as half the track has a gradient which slows me down. Not to mention that it tires me like hell!
It was a good experience...wondering whether I should switch to the regular route that I generally take. Also, my feet were hurting today. I think that it may have something to do with the surface of the jogging track. I think that I prefer the pavement...
Stats
Time: 77 minutes
Estimated Distance: 9 Kms
Laps: 18
Start Time: 2024 IST
End Time: 2141 IST
Prior Food: Rajawadi Sev from NJ
Water: 1 litre
Companions: Lots of people, no Dogs
Phone Calls: None (Damn! Nobody seems to want to talk these days!)
Music: Go FM (FM channels need to do something about their quality)
Love Birds: None (Guess it was too public a place and it was also slightly early)
Staring Weirdos: 12
Dogs: 0 (Enclosed place)
Incidents: Hit on a few girls! :D
: Caught up with a jogger.
This jogger wanted to know the kind of distance that I do. When I said, 18 laps, there was an audible gasp! I told her that I was on LSD. That was followed by a louder gasp! That was before I told her that LSD = Low Speed Distance running. She was visibly impressed.
I started a conversation about the Mumbai Marathonand how I was practising for it. I could see the awe in her face...The devil that I am, I told her about the Marathon last year as well.
Guess that I will be meeting her Monday! :)

Mumbai Marathon I
I am running for the Mumbai Marathon.
This is the second year that I will be running. Currently, I am preparing for it in whatever way that I can. That means jogging at weird hours of the day (night???) such as 2239 IST to 0006 IST!!!
But, you have to do what you have to do!
My legs ache! I should have started practicing much earlier! I hope that I do not bite more than I can chew.

The Start
I ran today! Ran life I have never run before!

I know that the time wasn't the best time to run! 2030 out of office, straight to meet a couple of dear friends whom I have not been able to meet since New Year's eve! While I didn't have dinner, I gave them company with some soup!
By the time I was out to the jogging track, it was 2239 IST! The track shuts at 2230 IST. I decided to jog on the pavement instead!
I jogged, jogged and jogged more. I do not think that I have EVER jogged so much! I went on for slightly more than an hour! I stopped at 2346 IST. Had a few minutes of cooling down walks as well. I ended only at 0006 IST. It may sound like a weird time...but i really had no option today! The Mumbai Marathon is coming up and I need to be in shape for the run!
